Birthday party dinner for Hermana McKenna! Four of us always eat dinner together every night and the other two join us sometimes. Its really fun but hard to remember not to be rude and speak english.

Baptism! The guy kneeling on the left is our ward mission leader, Hermano Pimienta, one of the most interesting men I have ever met. The branch president is the taller one in white

No birthday party is complete without a brinca brinca. They had us over for dinner and then made us jump so we would have seconds. Just kidding, but it worked.

And also no birthday party is complete without a pinata.

May 24, 2011

This is my first night in this area. We had a "night of divorces" where our branch presdident, who is a lawyer, helped anyone who needed a divorce for any reason to start the paperwork for free. They announced it in church aparently. You would think since the main goal of the church is to keep families united there wouldnt need to be a divorce night, but there is some good reasons for it here. These are all the missionaries in my branch too. Hermanas McKenna, McKee, McKinny (Im not kidding) Scott, Me and Falcon.

Check out the worst bike ever. Its a beach cruiser and is definitely meant for only cruising the beach and not the streets of mesa. It has no gears and my companion has a bike that is like a rocket. And thats the only helmet I could find. I do love the basket and the bell though.

Saying goodbye to Hilda and Juans family! So sad! I miss seeing them everyday becasue they are such an awesome reminder of why we do missionary work!
Well thats all for this week. It was good to hear from all of you! I miss you and love you!

Excerpts from her letter this week:
"I lied. I didnt cut my hair. It was a wig. But I am glad to know everyone thinks it would look good like that. We ate with a member and she had that at her house because she is old and pretty much bald but she didnt mention till after we tried it on that she had just bought it at DI. Gross. I cant really cut my hair because I can only work with ponytails now a days. Being on bikes is going good, I didnt know a person could sweat so much and not drown. I show up at houses looking like the lochness monster and im amazed they let us in."
(refer to the picture in the last post)

"We had a huge family night in the park yesterday and its so fun to meet all these new people and members! Also I shared my talent of barking like a dog and it was a hit."

Yeah, thats Jess for ya. Cracks me up every time.

I got my hair cut this morning! Sorry this isnt a good picture, we were in a hurry.

The singles ward had a salsa party and had a ton of leftover food so they gave it to us the missionaries and we packaged it all up seperately and distributed it to our ward during church.

May 09, 2011

I ate all of this. Yes, ALL. Including those little breathing rib things, all the strange colored liquids, the eggs and the coiled up intestine thing. I later found out its not even good or right to eat most of that. I also had to tear it apart with my bare little hands.  And I pleaded for my life to be spared and to not have to eat it but I did not escape unharmed, that thing is inside me plus one of its brothers and aparently millions of their 'could of been children' in the form of orange eggs. And I suppose some of you are thinking "why didnt she say no?" or "there is always a way out!" or something along those crazy lines, but just know that you are very wrong. There is never any way out! Because like I told Casey I can tell them "Im sorry, creatures of the sea make me very sick, especially when you make me eat the parts that arent supposed to be consumed by anything but a shark" or "I really dont feel comfortable eating this" or even "Im very allergic to this" all they hear is "Im sorry, your food is absolutely disgusting and I hate your family."
This is what dinner looked like when we showed up. I told Casey this terrifying expierence but I dont know if she passed it on or not. Take a peep at the sink full of these little fighters. Worst dinner by far of my entire life.

Cinco de Mayo fiesta! It was combined with the english ward and this is the only person that dressed up.

My companion and me with some idols.

We found this little treasure on one of our journeys

I am so glad I stayed in this area for so long for this reason! (I hope this goes with the picture of Hilda and Juans family and not the snake.)
